Pediatric Rounds is the remarkable CD inspired by pediatrics and
the music therapy profession. It was recorded by emergency medicine
physician and master cellist, Eric Roter “E.R.” Dr.
Roter was introduced to music therapy while attending the Juilliard
School. He observed a music therapist who worked with blind pediatric
patients. These children took great pride in their accomplishments,
and several displayed extraordinary musical talent.
Dr. Roter completed his musical studies at the Manhattan School
of Music with the legendary cellist Nathaniel Rosen before deciding
to become a physician. He received his M.D. from Case Western
Reserve School of Medicine and became Board Certified in Emergency
Medicine. Since then, he has treated thousands of patients but
has never lost his love of music or the cello. In 2004, he decided
to record a group of cello masterpieces which he could “prescribe”
to people to help them feel better. He alternated between the
E.R. and the recording studio and merged his dual backgrounds
to create, with concert pianist Michael Schneider, this unique
CD. The overwhelming positive response inspired Dr. Roter to develop
www.ERMusic.Org,
a website devoted to the exploration of music and medicine.
Dr. Roter also created his own Prescriptune™
to accompany his recording. This unique “prescription,”
personalized with the recipient’s name, is embossed
with the E.R. Music logo and bears the serial number of the autographed
CD. It is truly a one-of-a-kind prescription for feeling great
and is the perfect gift for all ages.
